Include image variants beside each Inventory description.
Add include=images to a canonical v2 Inventory Live Page or Current read:
GET /v2/steam/users/{steam_id}/inventory/{app_id}/{context_id}/current?include=imagesEach returned description contains steamcall.images, with status, nullable resource,
and nullable warning_code. The resource holds the variant URLs and status_url.
Assets continue to refer to descriptions by classid and instanceid within the app;
do not introduce another join using defindex. The steamcall object is reserved for
SteamCall extensions; future includes can add sibling fields without changing Steam data.
Only images is currently supported. Unknown, empty and repeated includes return 422.
By default, Images returns all four sizes (64, 128, 256, 512) in both WebP and AVIF. Optional filters select fewer returned links:
GET /v2/steam/users/{steam_id}/inventory/{app_id}/{context_id}/current?include=images&images=128&image_formats=avifBoth filters require include=images. The images parameter contains sizes, while
image_formats contains format names. Preparation schedules every supported size and
format regardless of these response filters. Preparation and CDN publication are asynchronous:
a first response may report processing or partial. Poll the returned status_url
with the same API credential to obtain ready variant URLs.
Without include=images, the response has no Images enrichment. Preparation is
asynchronous, so a newly requested icon may still be pending. Reuse ready variants
from the response where available and poll pending results with a deadline.
Preparation does not count as image delivery or add a separate financial charge.
Access to returned links still requires Images access and an active Project binding.
The typed meta.images summary reports selected sizes/formats and enrichment status.
Enrichment does not change Inventory revision identity, asset counts or pagination.
Images access and a current Project binding are required before billed Inventory execution starts. Images enrichment does not add a separate financial charge. A later image preparation failure does not discard an otherwise successful Inventory response.
Images uses the icon already present in the authorized Inventory description, including nonmarketable, renamed and other owner-specific descriptions. Only the source-policy-approved icon URL is used for preparation; names, actions and owner text are not published into the global lookup index. Images with the same approved source share prepared media.
When an icon is absent, Images may use a registered public alias. An absent alias then returns
image_lookup_not_found; a rejected icon returns image_source_not_allowed. These statuses do
not mean the item is absent. Show a placeholder for unavailable or pending media and preserve
successful variants when another variant fails.
