Before contacting support, check Troubleshooting and the public Status Page.

Include the request ID, UTC timestamp, API operation, HTTP status, expected outcome, and the smallest reproducible description. Never include API keys, authentication headers, or unnecessary personal data.

Before sending a request

1. Compare the request with the API Reference.
2. Check whether the Status Page already describes the behavior.
3. Reproduce with synthetic or minimally sensitive input when possible.
4. Remove secrets and inventory payloads from copied logs, screenshots, and traces.

Useful evidence

• the effective X-Request-ID;
• the API operation and safe parameter categories;
• UTC timestamp, HTTP status, and structured error code;
• your application release identifier and bounded retry count;
• expected behavior and the smallest observed difference.

Never send a Steam password, session cookie, SteamCall API key, Authorization header, complete request headers, or unrelated customer data. Support does not need a credential to correlate a request ID.
